Near the very end of treatment I started developing a black triangle between my bottom front two teeth. They can also happen when teeth aren’t properly aligned and the gums form accordingly, so when the teeth are aligned the gum tissue doesn’t fill in the gap. Massive ones on my upper teeth (especially each side of the canines) and some not so pretty black triangles on the lower front teeth (lower ones not quite as bad, but still, pretty visible). The Clincheck is poor at indicating real world likelihood of black triangles, so IPR should be left until after teeth are aligned - often done in refinement. Any thoughts? Obviously I had huge triangles by mid treatment, and was sooo upset, but my ortho said to wait and by the end of the last cycle (after some ipr) they were completely gone. Over the years I stopped wearing my retainer and the bottom front teeth had slight shifted outwards. So IPR is used to slightly alter the shape of the teeth and bring them closer in contact.
